　CAMERONが久しぶりに発表したMallet typeです。303stainless steel bodyに303GSS Insertという魅力的な組み合わせで、ODYSSEY,BETINARDIとMallet Typeにすっかりはまっていた頃なので、どうしても手に入れたいPutterでした。

　発売前からTEST SAMPLEが出回り￥200000以上の高値でAuctionに出ていました。1st RUNも限定500本で発売され、EAGLE U.S.AのH.P.に出ていたので狙っていたのですが、あっという間に売り切れてました。（ただ1st RUNは35inchのみでした）。

　その後、VOXのH.P.で見つけ、2004年7月にH.P.で見つけた翌日に行き、購入しました。￥49800でした。

　家に帰り早速転がしたのですが、Baby-T Red GRIPが太すぎて合わず、すぐにGRIP交換を考えました。せっかくのRed-Xですから、GRIPもCAMERONに使用と思い、候補としてRed Studio DesignもしくはRed Crazy CAMERONに決めました。Red Studio DesignはPING TypeのHEADのイメージだったので、Red Crazy CAMERONに決定したのですが、それからが大変でした。

　Red Crazy CAMERONはWINN製のGRIPで、すでに生産中止になっていて、Auctionでも1本￥10000と高値で売られていました。Red-X購入した当時、StudioStainless NewPort BeachにRed Crazy CAMERONを使っていて、これを再使用することに決め、WINNのGRIPは構造が2重になっているので、自分で抜く自信がなく、Southfieldsに相談しに行きました。ところが、そこにCrazy Red CAMERONの付いたNewPort2 Slant Neckが￥14000で売られていて、GRIPのために購入。早速GRIPを抜いたのですが、綺麗に抜けず、結局NewPort Beach
のGRIPを抜いてもらい、Red-Xに挿しました。

　現在のRed-X w Crazy Red CAMERONになるまでに、
　Putter代￥49800＋NewPort2￥14800＋GRIP交換代￥2000とTOTAL￥66000ももかかってます。(笑)
　
　CAMERON Red-Xは、ODYSSEYやBETTINRDIよりも一回り大きく、安心感があり、303GSS Insertのおかげか、ソフトな打感です。球の転がりもよく、非常に完成度の高いPutterですね。ただ、実戦では、引っ掛けてしまうことが多く，慣れが必要そうです．

CAMERON Red-X

　In early 2003 Scotty started working on two designs code-named the “coupe” and “cabriolet.” Players on Tour were asking for a traditional mallet so Scotty listened to what they were looking for and got to work. He started with the shape, which he wanted to keep simple, and experimented with different metals to achieve the sound and feel that complements the design. The result is a stainless steel body with a premium precision milled German stainless steel (GSS) insert. The insert has an elastomer border, which helps achieve the proper sound. Scotty also refined the shaft bend and kept it simple, opting for a single bend shaft giving a clear, unobstructed view of the ball. The “cabriolet” is a traditional mallet shape with the top down! Scotty thinks that the Red X mallets produce some of the best sound of all of his designs.（CAMERON H.P.より）
